Corylus - Northumberland

Tony and Alison have just taken the plunge - from some dingy sailing to buying 'Corylus' - which is based on Keilder Water, Northumberland. They are sailing her there this year, with a view to some refurbishments later on. In the future they are considering re-locating her to the East Coast.

Duet - on Hayling Island

After being left in a poor state by the previous owner, with some major engine problems the boat was sold on when the previous owner moved to France. She was advertised as being made in 1978 ? She went into the current owndership in 2007.

"...I spent the winter doing the usual things, rewire, modify masthead lights, new GPS,VHF paint and varnish removal! She went back in the water in april 2008 and has been there ever since on a drying pontoon at Hayling Yacht Company, Hayling Island.

Last .year the engine was finally removed to find a broken piston, broken between the rings? I rebuilt the engine with a new piston but never found out why it had broken in the first place. One year on an I have just fitted a brand new yanmar 1GM10, a direct replacement for the old one.

I sail all year round with Penny, when she is available, and also take out friends and family. We mainly do single tides but when the tides are right we do all day trips. Not done any nights away but plan some this year. Have slept aboard to catch early tides though without a problem..."

Since then Phil tells me he has had prop problems with the new engine not able to reach full revs. The old prop was removed was found to be a 13x10 ( I was not sure what Lena is ) which was re-cut to a 13 x 9 - and now is all as it should be, 5.3 kts at 3000 revs.

Steve williams - sails Dreamtime on the River Crouch, Essex with the help of Red Monkey !

Hi Geoff

I attach a photo of me at the helm of Dreamtime accompanied by my granddaughters sock puppet called Red Monkey. It's a long story but little Isabelle was delighted that Red monkey helped granddad sail his boat !!!

I have been a visitor to your site on quite a few occasions since I bought my Invader 22 last year. She is my first cruiser and I am very pleased with Her. I am a member of South Woodham Ferrers Yacht Club and she is moored on the River Crouch, Essex, near Hullbridge. I have attached a couple of photos of Dreamtime, she was built in 1979. I have also posted several videos on YouTube, here is a link to one of them:

Well done Red Monkey !
